SUGAR CANE / 14.25oz Denim Pants 1947 Model

SUGAR CANE

SUGAR CANE

SUGAR CANE
Despite its undeniably American-sounding name, SUGAR CANE is the first postwar Japanese manufacturer to produce clothing for the U.S. market. Founded in 1965 to supply garments to the U.S. military, the brand initially produced items for personnel stationed on American bases in Japan. After the Vietnam War, the brand shifted to the domestic market, where it has continued to create authentic American-style workwear — with a particular focus on denim — while maintaining original, vintage-level quality.

SUGAR CANE

14.25oz selvedge denim — feel the rhythm of the loom
The fabric uses slubby indigo yarns reproduced from vintage dyes developed by BASF in Germany. A blend of Zimbabwean and American cotton is slowly woven on traditional Japanese shuttle looms to create a richly textured, heritage-quality denim.

SUGAR CANE

The denim is one-washed for a softer, broken-in feel from the start, while allowing for rewarding fades and evolving character over time.

SUGAR CANE

Vintage soul, modern craftsmanship
Following the construction of 1947-era jeans, the front uses a button fly instead of a zipper. The iron buttons feature original engraved markings modeled after vintage hardware.

SUGAR CANE

The coin pocket is finished with selvedge, reinforced with punch-through copper rivets.

SUGAR CANE

The leather patch is made from deerskin for an authentic vintage touch.

SUGAR CANE

SUGAR CANE

The waist is constructed in a classic five-pocket style.

SUGAR CANE

As with vintage denim from a time before industry standards were established, multiple colors and thicknesses of cotton thread are used throughout the garment. Each stitch is intentionally chosen to recreate period-correct authenticity.

The hem is finished with a durable chainstitch, reinforcing the garment’s heritage-level construction from top to bottom.

SUGAR CANE

Classic regular-straight fit
With a comfortable rise and a straight leg that falls cleanly from the thigh, this timeless silhouette suits a wide range of body types.

The rugged workwear roots of the design lend a strong and durable impression, making it a versatile pair suitable for both on and off-duty wear.
