Blue refabric / Herringbone Wide Tapered Vintage Trousers

Blue refabric
Built on a concept of high-quality Japanese fabrics and a commitment to authentic craftsmanship. Originally produced for many years as a ROCOCO exclusive line of JAPAN BLUE JEANS, it relaunches in 2026 under the name “Blue refabric.”

Production centers around partner factories of JAPAN BLUE JEANS. The name combines “Blue” — representing Japanese denim — with “Refabric,” a coined word blending Republic and Fabric. Inspired by the idea of a “Blue Republic,” the brand honors Japan’s textile heritage while creating garments that bring out the individuality of the wearer.

Primarily using premium denim from Okayama, each piece is carefully crafted in trusted domestic factories. The design approach is minimal yet defined, allowing the character and texture of the fabric to stand out. From “the country of fabric, Japan” to the world—Blue refabric presents a new standard rooted in respect for Japanese textiles.

Blue refabric herringbone twill fabric

Military heritage with proven durability
The fabric is a reproduction of the herringbone twill used in the 1940s U.S. Army M-43 HBT combat trousers.

The distinctive herringbone weave creates a textured surface with depth, setting it apart from plain weaves. With excellent durability, it delivers the toughness associated with its military origins.

Additionally, vat dyeing gives the fabric a muted, deep tone. Because the dye sits on the surface rather than penetrating fully, the color gradually fades with wear, developing a vintage-like character over time.

Blue refabric double stitch puckering detail

The side seams are finished with double stitching, and a washing process creates natural puckering. With continued wear, fades become more pronounced, developing a rich patina reminiscent of vintage pieces.

Blue refabric zipper fly and coin pocket

The waist features a practical zipper fly for easy wear, along with a coin pocket at the front for added functionality.

Blue refabric side pockets

Side pockets are positioned for easy hand access, while the back features clean welt pockets for a refined look.

Blue refabric offset belt loop detail

An offset center back belt loop adds a subtle but distinctive design accent.

Blue refabric wide tapered silhouette

Based on a wide tapered silhouette, the pants provide room through the hips and thighs, then gently taper toward the hem for a clean finish.

A slightly lower rise reduces visual heaviness, creating a lighter, more balanced look. The result is a versatile silhouette that feels relaxed yet refined.
